“Growing Up Female: A Personal Photo-journal by Abigail Heyman
This is one of those 1970’s style photo books. The kind with interesting photographs along with text (in this case handwritten). It’s very 70’s in that it explores what it is to be a woman, if a woman should live her life in the kitchen, etc. I feel that the feminist movement has done what it was meant to do, and that women are on an fairly even playing field. But books and other writings like this are interesting, because we (women) still need to consider for ourselves what we want to do with our lives. We have so many choices.
This book has some nudity in a sexual context, but all the photos work together to make a complete picture of what a woman is, has been, and could be. I recommend this book for people interested in photography, all women, and people who love women.
