Jamendo – Free, Legal Music Downloads for Your Ipod or Computer

I have found a nifty little site called Jamendo. It has one of my favorite things. Music. That’s free, downloadable music from independent artists. So that’s like three favorite things together. And it’s completely legal. So unlike Kazaa, Limewire, etc. you don’t have to worry about the copyright police knocking down your door and taking away your MP3 collection. And you don’t have to feel guilty for taking away the livelihood of multi-millionaire artists with 3 houses and Porsches, by not buying their $20.00 CD. Ok, enough political commentary. Oh, and many files are free for use in film, ads, games, etc. as long as you give the artist credit (see site for details).
On Jamendo, you can create a profile to share your favorite artists and tell people about yourself. You can download individual songs, or in some cases full cds. Search by genre, artist, keyword (in the title, description, or lyrics), country, and more. Leave your comments about the artist or song, rate songs, create playlists, and much more. And of course, you can download the mp3s to your ipod, listen using Media Player, or burn them to cd to listen in the car.
Check out Brad Sucks on Jamendo. It’s a stupid band name, but Brad actually doesn’t suck. He’s quite good.
Oh, and if you can’t stand getting all this free stuff, you can support the artists directly through the site. I’m sure some of these guys really need it.
