Well there are many ways you can lower electric bill and go green. Start of by using energy efficient light bulbs and turning off game consoles and computers when not in use. l
Secondly I’ve cut my electric bill by 92% by making my own solar panels and wind mills. I did it for under $200 bucks.

replace your bulb lights with LED(light emitting diode) lights.

Raise your AC thermostat as high as you can stand it and then turn on any overhead fans you have.
Be sure all the ac filters are clean and new and change often to keep them free flowing.
Energy efficient light bulbs. Turn off lights when not in use.
Insulate your attic with new insulation if it’s old and worn down. You can throw new batts over the old ones, no removal necessary.
Close the blinds during the day to keep sun out of the house.

Most appliances like computers, dvd players, tvs, etc. have a “standby” mode that comes on automatically when you hit the “off” switch. Even when you shut your computer on, it stay in standby, especially laptops, which charge if plugged in. To avoid this, use a power strip with an off switch to make sure the power is completely off when you’re not using it.
I can’t tell you how many people I know that leave their tv on ALL THE TIME for “noise” or just have it on with the sound turned off. Just because. Gee! Turn the darn thing off. Even better, avoid tv altogether. It’s really bad for you. Stick with dvds, and don’t get roped in to hours of tv watching.
Too many of us get too used to the A/C in the summer, and too used to the heat in the winter. Of course if it’s 102F you will want, probably need air conditioning. And if it’s freezing outside, you will need some kind of heat. But you probably don’t need as much of it as you think. Ever notice that in summer you want it to be 60 inside, but in the winter 60 is cold and you want it to be 70? That’s overdependence on heat and A/C. Try adapting to your climate a bit, instead of adapting the climate to you.
In the winter, do active work or exercise, especially outside. The fresh air and exercise is good for you, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly you warm up. Also wear layers even in the house to make it easier to accept cooler temps. It’s very silly to wear a t-shirt indoors in December. It just doesn’t make sense. Eat appropriately with warm soups, home baked goods and hot drinks that keep you warmed up without turning up the heat.
Likewise, in the summer, dress appropriately. Do your active work in the mornings and evenings, and don’t try to mow the lawn at noon. Drink water instead of soft drinks, tea and coffee. This helps you stay hydrated and cool. Unless it’s crazy hot, try to use fans instead of air conditioning, and figure out the best way to get air moving through your house instead of just blowing the fan on you (thereby lowering your threshold for tolerating a bit of heat). Use heavy curtains, or even better exterior shutters to block the sun during the day, and take advantage of shady spots with cool breezes. Eat cooling meals like salads, cucumbers, watermelon, grapes, lemonade, and eat as many raw fruits and vegetables as you can manage. Cooking heats up the house and heats up your body.
