TweetQuestion: I only have three green, and two red apples, and I want to know if I can make a pie for Pi day tomorrow. Help? Our answer: Usually (not always) green apples like Granny Smith, Bramley, Transparents, etc. are good cooking apples – firm and tart. Usually (not always) red apples are sweeter, possibly [...]

Food is, of course, the most basic of our needs beyond water and air (and toilet paper!). Isn’t it funny how we take these simple things for granted? You breathe in and out, you pull on the roll, you turn on the tap, you pop a Lean Cuisine into the microwave, or answer, “Yes”, to “Fries with that?” Easy, automatic, instant. Most of her recipes include some kind of tofu, or other soy product. Which is great if you’re [...]

TweetMmmm… chocolate cake! No eggs, no butter, no milk. Completely delicious, and easy! I found this recipe at a cabin I stayed at recently in Canada. Our hosts were vegetarian, and I did have a bit of milk and eggs, but we were pretty limited. On this particular night, I was out of butter, eggs [...]
