The Fabulous Frederick A. Morton, Jr., and His Tantalizing Tempo Networks
Frederick A. Morton, Jr. didn’t just dare to do something many only dreamed about but excelled at it. However, that’s only a speck of what he has accomplished so far. You might want to call him an ‘abstract dreamer’ because, unlike those who build castles in the air, he tends to put enough effort into work to make his dreams come true. And his piece de resistance TEMPO Networks is an absolute manifestation of Frederick’s lifelong dream of creating a Caribbean-dedicated network promoting the region’s multicolored culture.
The life story of this proud Caribbean son is an inspiring one. From excelling in his law career at top-notch firms and working at the highest levels of the legal profession to kickstarting the pan-Caribbean TEMPO Networks, Frederick has delivered some of the finest and impeccable services to his homeland. He did what no politician, government, organization, locale, or immigrant in and outside the Caribbean coast could do – which is to unite the entire region through a shared network.
Born and raised in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, to Nevisian parents, Frederick got his law degree from Rutgers University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbia University. But being an abstract dreamer, the fire inside Frederick to get his homeland the recognition it deserves and to uplift the Caribbean region never died.
Even during his law career, his mind would constantly flow with ideas, curiosities, and adventures. After being at Viacom and MTV for several years, he realized his main purpose was not just to practice law on behalf of MTV but to ensure that a media platform focused on the Caribbean, its extraordinary people, and culture was developed.
It was his talent for turning ideas into reality that led him toward his biggest accomplishment of pitching and establishing TEMPO Networks in 2005 while being the Senior Vice President at MTV Networks. Since then, the entertainment channel has not only survived but thrived.
The Caribbean media mogul’s profound creation is now in its 17th year. In this span, Frederick has put his heart and soul into the television network, resulting in a massive viewership not only in the Caribbean but throughout the United States.
Apart from marketing and promoting the region’s iconic destinations, TEMPO Networks has grown into a cultural hub for the region, having showcased Caribbean content that launched, supported, and progressed the careers of various Caribbean artists.
“TEMPO has emerged as an ultimate platform for the entire Caribbean experience, and it will continue to be a formidable bridge to this culturally rich and trendsetting community,” says the prolific founder Frederick, or as they say, Mr. Tempo. He has been a dominating force in Caribbean TV and media. He’s a trendsetter, a believer, and at the core, a true Caribbean. Undertaking the task of promoting Caribbean culture was not smooth sailing; however, Frederick did not just accomplish it, he aced it.
